DAY OF CARING

In 2010, the Germantown United Methodist Church first participated in the countywide Day Of Caring pancake brunch.  We chose a theme for the event –“The Need Is Great, The Rewards Are Eternal.”  In 2012, this church will again host a Day Of Caring on February 26th,and again, “The Need Is Great.”

The Food Bank, one of several agencies to benefit from The Day Of Caring, distributed more than 5 million pounds of food from July 1st, 2010 to June 30th, 2011 through 77 member agencies.  40% of those served were children.  For each $1 donated to The Food Bank, $10 of food is supplied to the hungry.

The brunch is scheduled from 8:00 am until 12:30 pm.  Reverend Wheeler is planning a combined worship service at 10:00 am.  There will also be musical entertainment in the sanctuary before and after the service.

The event committee consists of Mark Cross, Mark Heistand, Karen Carmickle, Greg and Etta Hanahan, and Dave and Vicki Dursch.  If you have any questions, please contact one of us.  We are proud to announce that the committee has again decided to dedicate this year’s event to Kelly Cross.

With your help, we are confident that this year’s Day Of Caring pancake brunch will again be a great success to help fight hunger in our area..
